I know some of you aren't knowledgeable about football (No, not soccer; real football) and show this by rooting for teams like Seattle, Dallas, and New Orleans. But I created a private group for NFL.com's Playoff Fantasy Football and it is easy enough that even you can manage it. The website is here: http://playoffchallenge.fantasy.nfl.com/?icampaign=nflnav_fantasy_playoff_access Register and then search for the group Fantasy FITHball Password: fithting Obviously, the big prize is bragging rights for a year.
This league is free and fun. You can pick available players all the way through the playoffs. Even if you aren't doing well overall, you get to pick players to follow and root for (or curse at) right up to the Super Bowl. Some other league formats are tough and you can end up with no players or third stringers towards the end which is not as much fun to follow.
Playoffs start tomorrow. Come on people, throw your hat in the ring. You don't have to understand the nuances of the NFL to play and have fun. So even Browns and Seahawks fans can join in.
I have a special request. I know jackshit about football or hockey pool, but I've always been drag into them (office team bonding bullshit), I always do this : 1- Pick the oldest players for all position 2- Call my team " The last chance" 3- See how many people I can beat with this shitty team. It's not about winning, it's about how you lose. And yes , I've beaten the crap out of my boss with this strat (thank you Mike Modano). I don't know anything about football, but I will support anyone who wants to build this team for me. Edit: Just realize it's a playoff pool. Not sure if it would apply, but I'd be up for a full season next year
Well I couldn't fulfill the second request and using the absolute oldest players means you'd end up with mostly benchsitters, but here you go, a team of old people (some quality names in there Mr. Kussler)
Congrats Pong, you might have just won this thing for Klive. I've only played traditional fantasy football, never playoff only. So I didn't read the rules before making my picks. The scores multiply for consecutive weeks of using the same player. In other words, if you have a team stacked with Patriots - and they make the super bowl - you'll have crazy score multipliers and be the prohibitive favorite. This provides an incentive to start players even when their team has a bye. Even though I took the top score in week one, I'm pretty much screwed if the Steelers and Packers don't make the super bowl.
That's the tradeoff, but there are no guarantees. The Packers lost to the Giants at Lambeau in the playoffs of 2007 and 2011. Both of those games had the Packers favored by more than a TD. I do not think the Patriots will make it to the Super Bowl, so I didn't go that route either. But if Klive wins, he promised to buy us all a technology gift pack like he bought himself.
wtf, why all the Seahawks hate? You know what they say about opinions, they just like assholes, everyone has one.
Only needed to replace the TE in Klive's lineup: We'll see whether the Patriots heavy lineup pays off in the end.
So I updated Klive's lineup and Don may be right about him dominating us all. Stupid Packers! Fucking Patriots!
