Ban appeal

I joined the TF2 server and I played for a while. I found the steam group nice, so I went to the steam page, looked around, then joined. Since everyone there had {FITH} in their username, I put it in mine, then when I reopened TF2 I was banned from the server.

I'm not going to 'own up to' your mishearing of my phrasing
But I am admitting that I recognized my mistake once it was brought up
and I immediately directed my attention to the problem rather than sitting on my ass in vc acticulating

As the person who banned you, here are my thoughts:

It is explicitly in the rules of the server to not impersonate a FITH member, rules which you agreed to before being able to play. There are also numberous messages directing people to the forums to apply for membership. With that, it should be abundantly clear to NOT just throw the tag to try of your own accord. You were told to remove the tag multiple times, you did not - you were kicked. You did not change your name. You rejoined, were warned by multiple people to change your name and instead of saying "OK" and doing it, you argued and tried to make excuses. You were banned. You are now here arguing and making excuses.

I'm not against having this ban shortened to 14-28 days and having it be a lesson to you, but I also don't feel strongly about doing that.

 

I think that this is a misunderstanding and a miscommunication. All I intended to do was to join the group. When I asked in chat about the invite, I personally saw no responses, they were most likely drowned out by in game messages, so I went to the steam page. I looked around, read the tenets, and decided that this would be a group worth joining, so I pushed the join group button. from there, I decided that since I was in the steam group, I should add the FITH tag to my name, which was an error.

I am not sure why this necessitates 2-4 weeks of ban time, but I do understand why this is not good.

 

I was under the assumption at the time that using the tag was required (which was based on nothing but guess)

 

I mean, if you're breaking a rule that you're being told multiple (that means more than once) times to fix, then it's already a big red flag for us. Number 2 red flag: Reading is what? Fundamental. As in, reading our rules. You literally have to agree to it when you first start playing on our server. So that tells me that you skimmed it and said "meh".
You wanted to join our group, we get it, that's great. But the rules are clearly stated, plain and simple. And then you continue to argue. Even my kids know not to argue as much as this.

 

I also find that constantly being insulted and referred to and compared to a child by the moderation what trying to apologize and appeal to my mistake a red flag. I think we would both be better apart.

 

Although I no longer wish to be in the steam group, I would like to request to be unbanned from the TF2 server, as it has been a good experience. I admit that I did not fully read the rules, when I entered the server I read the rules and only paid attention to what was relevant for me at the time, so I did not read the section on impersonation.

I will not do this again.

 

So you're keeping this argument going and yet you're asking to be unbanned.
You're being banned because a) you were warned several times to fix your mistake; b) you're keeping this argument going for whatever reason and c) you said exactly what I was thinking, "I think we would both be better apart".

 

a: I have already attempted to explain this in the steam chat, which you may reread if you wish.
b: I am keeping this argument going because I wish to be able to play on the TF2 server.
c: That was in reference to the group itself

I'll take that as a no then. I thought that this was a good server to spend time in and that it would be worth trying to get back into.

Now that I know that is impossible, I'm finally going to leave.
