For the past few weeks I've had the problem where I can't load the website fith.co. I'm getting a server not found error. At first I though the server was down, but it's been way too long. I haven't had time to troubleshoot much but maybe someone has some ideas. I accessed the site from my phone on mobile so I know it still exists. I get the error, server not found on my computer. I tried again on my phone with WI-FI, server not found. Okay, either I've been ip banned, or my router is not allowing the page to load. Router logs show packets being blocked but I don't know why. Nothing is being filtered. Nothing has changed, at least on my end. Did someone change something with the URL? Did some security update mess me up? So how am I posting this? I've bypassed the URL and I'm using the ip address, 216.52.148.223. So I can load pages, but the URL won't work for me. Thoughts?
To my knowledge, via redirects... fith.co http://fith.co/index.php http://forum.fith.co/ http://forum.fith.co/index.php All should take the browser to the same place. But it does work from your phone... on your mobile network, but not on your wifi. Same network your computer is connected to, right? .co is a Columbian TLD. What kind of router do you have? Is there any kind of protection setup that is trying to stop traffic from going to certain places in the world to protect you? Personally, I have that setup at home via a pfSense firewall, but it works on IP blocks instead of just the domain name, but I'm thinking maybe something is trying to outsmart us. I created a forwarder on a domain I own to test... OK, I have [redacted] pointed at 216.52.148.223. This should at least sort of load the page for you, but I doubt it'll work beyond that since the server should be using fith.co internally. Should help indicate whether your network is unhappy with .co or not. If you could test with that and report back, please. Also, who is your ISP?
I haven't had much time to dick around but none of those links works for me. Correct. Nothing on my network will connect to fith.co. I get off the network and use my cell network I connect fine. It's an older D-Link rounter that does have a firewall enabled but I've not changed a single thing since I've set it up. That link does work but so does the IP address. Some functionality is good. My ISP is Distrbutell using the Rogers network. While I suspected my router is the cause, I didn't consider my ISP. I do plan on bypassing the router to test it but that involves swapping wires and not being lazy.
Thanks for the update! I could find information on how to block sites and such on D-Links, but it isn't like there's a parental filter, or some kind of intelligence there. It just allowed creating lists of stuff to not connect to, so that's less than likely. Not even Tyknighter proof. The fith.rikersbeard.com domain was to mostly make sure that DNS was working, and then I started to look into whether anyone had it out for Columbian domains. Couldn't find anything. Tried to find something hosted in Columbia, but that was tedious. I did find a benign site, a Chamber of Commerce site, it's hosted in Orlando, but it's got a .co - I'd be curious if that loads properly on your network. If it doesn't, could you try changing your computer's DNS (instructions below) and try again, please? The IPs below are Google's Public DNS. They aren't always the fastest, but they do work, and you get the benefit of not dealing with whatever fuckery an ISP is pushing down the pipe. I'm wondering if Distrbutel thinks they're protecting users or something... should be pretty tell-tale if the Chamber site doesn't work, either, and then the DNS change fixes everything. If it does fix it, it's easy to put in place on the router so you can just override their crap. Maybe .co is too close to .ca? Ho Lee Fuck. Has it really been 2 months? Well I'd like to report that my usual approach of ignoring problems until they go away has worked out flawlessly. As mysteriously as the problem has appeared, it has gone away. Everything works fine now. I don't know what it was. I have learned nothing.
