I do this cleanup every couple months and thought I'd share... My TF2 is set to take a screenshot at the end of every round. Lots of memories and fun to look through To save very clear, crisp shots though, the game saves files as TGA... Targa... most of you have probably never seen these, or if you have, it's been a while. Very nice 24-bit images from the late 80s. Anyway... A TGA screenshot is about 10 MB at 2560x1440 verses ~371 KB for a not-so-compressed JPEG. SSD space is premium and expensive, so when my folder gets to about 10 GB it's time to convert some files! System is Windows 10 64-bit, so if you're using something different your paths may vary. Location of my TF2 screenshots: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\screenshots I like to use XnView Minimal Install... Tools -> Batch Processing Add your screenshots folder as Input Folder I usually just create a folder called JPEG inside the screenshots folder for output files You can delete the source files afterwards manually (recommended) or check the Delete original box Format is JPG/JPEG-JIFF Hit GO 2815 files took about 45 seconds for me... it'll be slower with a hard drive. Be careful not to delete your output folder when deleting the TGA files! 790 MB instead of 13 GB, yay! If you need help or have questions, hit me up!
End of round screenshots are like saving every bottle cap. Pretty soon you end up with quite the pile of shame. 2,815 rounds....oof. It's bad enough seeing my hours played relentlessly increasing.
Nice!! I use to collect them in plastic halloween pumpkins but then it sort of became an indication of a problem than a future craft project
