After thinking on this for a bit, i realize the designers need something to do. Would rather have seen added weapons or more done with the maps... Also, they got their money already, so what do they care for longevity? They have had to have made over 1 billion in sales by now.
I can't believe that the test server doesn't kill off interest in buying crates/keys. I opened 18 weapon skin crates with the free battle points and keys and got - essentially - nothing. Most of them are hunter safety orange, which I can't imagine would be helpful in stealth mode. I got a gold plated sawed off and a silver plated R1895 revolver. They are decent looking, but weapons I'd never use. And it would have cost around $40 in keys. It makes way more sense just buying the item you want as opposed to playing the crate lottery.
Ding ding ding, we have a winner. Way too many low value undesirables in the pubg crates. At least some of the tf2 crates low tier items are at least somewhat useable. Every time i decide to open a free crate on pubg, i wonder why i bothered. Keeps me from buying any of their crate keys
Since we have a new create today, I figured I'd spin the wheel and give it a go. Unopened crates were at $1.69 and I redeemed and opened two for free, and ended up with about $2.00 worth of stuff. It would be nice if they tweaked some of the drops, but at the end of the day, it's kinda like Warcraft... as long as it doesn't give you a performance boost during game play, it's marketing to a different demographic than most (all?) of us fit into, but they need it to stay competitive with the people that do care. I want them to succeed, and have a vibrant community for some time. My hope is this is low hanging fruit and we can see them push the competition with more maps and bug fixes. Oh, forgot to add. I put on my bright red pants, and forgot about them... when it was 1v1v1 at the final circle I got shot in the ass because it was like a glowing beacon as a slide across the open field... lesson learned.
