I've been really wanting to play some survival games with friends as a group. I miss the old DayZ Arma 2 mod experiences I had. I've been having fun with PUBG, but I feel like a more persistent world environment would be a nice change, and the survival genre was where the battle royale games got their start (as mods). Is anyone interested in looting and shooting with fewer time restrictions than battle royale games have? Does anyone want to punch some trees and make some spears from the wood? Bumspam and I played SCUM last weekend, and I think people would enjoy that title if given the chance. I also enjoyed Conan Exiles, but I'm open to other ideas.
I'm not interested, but is this the sort of thing we could host with our excess server capacity? If so, it might be fun to have an always on FITH world for you survivalists.
the temporary survival or timed ones turn me off. so a persistent one would be great. i'm down to try something new.
You can host servers for many of these types of games, SCUM included. I have 7 Days to Die too. It looks fun to me. It has more of a post-apocalyptic feel, and the time limit for base building before a horde comes for you is an interesting mechanic.
There are very easy cheese mechanics for the 7 day night hoards but, not being committed to your character makes the game hilarious.
I can see that. I'm kind of in that frame of mind in SCUM. I spent a few weeks amassing loot and building a camp. I loaded everything I had into an SUV to move across the map, and I ended up dying from the flu or some shit.
It's a resource hog (my computer barely runs it) but Ark was fun, when I played it with friends a few years ago. There's also Project Zomboid.
I haven't really gotten anywhere with this project. Gary ended up buying 7 Days to Die and played for about 20 min to check it out but no headway has been made regarding getting a server going.
